Cops: Suffolk sheriff's deputy shoots fugitive
New York City police say a deputy Suffolk County sheriff shot a fugitive in the stomach in Queens Wednesday morning.
A spokesperson for the NYPD says 28-year-old Charles Mitchell, wanted for a shooting in Queens, was shot in Cambria Heights. Witnesses say Mitchell was walking down the street with a woman when he was shot. While the man who pulled the trigger does work in Suffolk, officials say he was working with the U.S. Marshal's Regional Task Force.
Mitchell was taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
