Police: Joy ride cost Coram golf course $30K
Five young men were arrested Thursday for allegedly joy riding at a Coram golf course and causing thousands of dollars of damage.
Police say they responded to calls about young people driving golf carts in a residential area of Coram overnight. They then discovered eight carts missing from the Pine Ridge Golf Club.
Authorities say the men, ranging in age from 18 to 20, tore through the greens in the golf carts, doing figure-eights and leaving track marks on some of the back holes. They estimate the damage to the carts and course amounts to $30,000. The men face criminal mischief charges.
