A benefit was held Sunday in Shirley for a 2-year-old girl who was left brain damaged after being severely beaten as a newborn.

The child, Evelyn Biondo, was beaten by her father, Joshua Cohen in June 2007. Cohen is now serving a 16-year sentence for leaving Evelyn brain damaged.

"The whole community, the whole world poured their hearts out to us and offered everything they could and that really helped," says Alicia Biondo. "Now we are at the point where we want to give to everyone else. We want to give to all the other children."
