The Levittown teacher indicted on federal child porn charges Wednesday was known to be a threat to students, according to prosecutors.
Richard Hartig, a 6th-grade teacher at Island Trees Middle School, is charged with downloading child pornography onto his home computer. He was arrested in June.
In court the U.S. attorney claimed the teacher was warned numerous times by a school official of his ?inappropriate conduct? with children. He did not define the term though.
Hartig pleaded not guilty to the six-count indictment. He has been held without bail since he was first arrested and is due back in court Aug. 26.
