LIRR engineer accused of letting rider drive
? According to Newsday, Long Island Rail Road engineer Ronald Cabrera is accused of letting a passenger operate a train from Hicksville to Hunters Point Avenue on July 2.
The Nassau County District Attorney?s office confirmed that it is investigating the alleged incident that took place during the height of the morning rush hour. The LIRR confirms that an employee has been suspended without pay while the railroad, MTA police and district attorney investigate.
According to a witness, Cabrera left the train's cab while the passenger was driving. Officials are working to identify and locate the passenger involved.
