Patchogue man killed in crash on LIE

A Patchogue man was killed in a car accident on the LIE early Saturday morning after his vehicle was rear-ended by a truck, police say.

According to authorities, the crash happened near Exit 61 in Holbrook at around 2:15 a.m., when a truck struck the car of 27-year-old Yovani Cintron. The driver of the truck told police Cintron slowed down, and he couldn't prevent the collision.

Cintron was rushed to Stony Brook Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

Police say fog may have caused the crash. No charges have been filed against the truck driver.
