Judge stays injunction against Paterson's lt. gov
(AP) - A judge has at least temporarily stopped arestraining order blocking Richard Ravitch from serving as New YorkGov. David Paterson's lieutenant governor.
Justice Priscilla Hall of the Appellate Division SecondDepartment in Brooklyn on Wednesday stayed an injunction issued theday before. Both sides believe the case will ultimately reach theNew York state Court of Appeals, the state's highest court.
A spokesman for Paterson says they're confident the courts willconfirm Ravitch.
An attorney for Republicans, who filed the restraining order, says the decision only gives the governor more time before Ravitchis rejected.
Paterson appointed the former head of the MetropolitanTransportation Authority earlier this month to break a monthlongleadership deadlock in the state Senate.
