More details are emerging about the terrorist activities the Patchogue man who confessed he teamed up with al-Qaida was planning.
Court papers contain Bryant Neal Vinas? admissions word for word. Vinas says he gave al-Qaida information about the Long Island Rail Road as part of a bombing plot. He also described how he left Long Island to join a jihadist group and fight American soldiers in Afghanistan.
Members of the Selden mosque Vinas attended continue to reel. Nayyar Imam, of the Islamic Association of Long Island, says if anyone in the mosque knew about Vinas? activities, they would?ve been first to come forward. He says his community is shocked and angry.
