NYPD cop from Freeport shot, wounded
A New York City police officer from Freeport is expected to make a full recovery after being shot while making an arrest Monday.
Police say Officer Rodney Lewis and his partner were called to a domestic dispute in Queens. When they confronted the suspect, a brief struggle ensued, but the two cops were able to make the arrest. As the officers tried to take the suspect's gun, it fell to the ground and discharged, hitting Lewis on the left side above his bulletproof vest.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg says Lewis is doing well and is in good spirits.
