Wake held for LI victims of Taconic crash
Loved ones said goodbye Wednesday to the five Long Islanders killed in a wrong-way crash on the Taconic State Parkway.
Wake services were held at the Dalton Funeral Home in Floral Park for Diane Schuler, her 2-year-old daughter and three nieces.
Initial autopsy results on Schuler, the driver, show she had no known medical condition. State investigators are now awaiting toxicology results. Additional testing is being done to see if Schuler, of West Babylon, may have gone into diabetic shock.
Meanwhile, the Hance and Schuler families released photographs of the victims Tuesday as well as a one-page statement about the victims.
The families have established the Hance-Schuler Family Foundation so their loved ones will be remembered forever. The families are asking that they be allowed to grieve in private.
