5 victims of Taconic crash laid to rest
Loved ones said goodbye Thursday to five members of the Long Island family killed in a Westchester car crash.
A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Floral Park for Diane Schuler, of West Babylon, along with her 2-year-old daughter, Erin. Her three nieces, 8-year-old Emma, 7-year-old Alison and 5-year-old Kate were also laid to rest.
Warren Hance, Schuler?s brother and father of the three girls, addressed the mourners. He asked them to keep the victims in their prayers. Hundreds of mourners filled the church and dozens more received communion outside. Speakers were also set up so onlookers could hear the service.
The five Long Islanders were killed when Schuler's van, which was headed in the wrong direction, slammed into an SUV on the Taconic State Parkway. The three men in the SUV, from Yonkers, also died.
