State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo came out Friday against 16 Long Island stores that sell realistic toy guns, claiming they place residents and police officers in danger.
Cuomo and Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice sent letters to the businesses that carry life-like toy guns with triggers, asking them to stop their sale.
According to the law, a toy gun must have an orange tip and an orange stripe down its barrel, and it cannot come in the same colors as real firearms.
Rice says any merchant violating the law will be fined and may face legal action.
