The nation's "cash for clunkers" program became such a sterling success that lawmakers Friday had to rush to allot $2 billion more for the incentive.
"We've been almost sold out of every car that qualifies under this program," says Joe Settineri, who works for Merrick Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep.
The government originally funded the program with $1 billion expecting just 250,000 car sales, but Americans quickly tapped that money. The Senate will take up the additional funding next week.
