Nassau County announced Tuesday the first of 50 red light cameras installed in the county will be at intersections in Bethpage, Massapequa and Oceanside.

The intersection at Stewart Avenue and Central Avenue in Bethpage, considered one of the most dangerous intersections in Nassau, will get one of the first cameras. The two others will be at Merrick Road and Park Boulevard in Massapequa and Atlantic Avenue and Lawson Boulevard in Oceanside.

The cameras will be up and running at 12:01 a.m. Thursday. Drivers caught running red lights at those intersections will be fined $50.

Officials expect to have all 50 cameras in place by the middle of January.
