Latino groups blast Levy for roast comments
Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy is under fire from Latino and immigrant groups over comments at a roast last week.
At the roast in Bay Shore, Levy asked an attorney who was teasing him, whether he was a U.S. citizen. When the attorney responded affirmatively, Levy reportedly said if he wasn?t, "I'd have to deport you, like the guys back there in the kitchen.?
Nadia Marin-Molina of immigration advocacy group Workplace Project says she doesn?t even want an apology, just a change in Levy?s actions.
Levy?s office released a statement calling the fervor ?political correctness run amok.? The statement also says Levy?s comments were ?satire on his own political reputation.?
