Police shoot and kill man wielding fake gun

? Suffolk County police say a Bellport Village man was fatally shot Thursday morning after pointing a replica gun at officers.

According to police, officers called to investigate shots fired observed 56-year-old Thomas Keating with what appeared to be an automatic weapon. When ordered by officers to drop the gun, police say Keating told them ?You are going to have to take me.?

Keating then pointed the object at one of the four officers surrounding him, according to Police Commissioner Richard Dormer. They fired 10 shots at him, killing him.

Police say they believe Keating wanted to be killed and are looking at the case as a ?suicide by cop? incident.
