Red light cameras removed in Massapequa Park
Some of Nassau County's red light cameras have already been taken down just days after they were put up.
The county installed the cameras at the intersection of Merrick Road and Park Boulevard in Massapequa Park last week, claiming they would make the streets safer. But on Friday the county took down the cameras, saying it did not own the property they were on and therefore couldn't legally process any tickets that the cameras produced.
Massapequa Park Mayor James Attadonna, however, believes the decision to remove the cameras was strictly a financial one.
The mayor says he's now in the process of petitioning the state, which approved Nassau's red light camera program, to get the cameras re-installed.
