Suffolk bar owners accused of running sex ring
Two men and a woman are in custody for allegedly luring women into waitress jobs in two Suffolk bars and then forcing them into prostitution.
Federal agents raided two bars in Lake Ronkonkoma and Farmingville Sunday night and arrested the two owners, Jasmine and Anthony Rivera as well as John Whaley, a bar manager. Investigators say if the waitresses, mostly Central American women, refused to have sex with patrons, they were raped and beaten.
According to the New York Sex Offender Registry, Anthony Rivera is a convicted child rapist. The three are facing sex trafficking and forced labor charges. If convicted, they could be facing life imprisonment.
