Autistic teen from Lindenhurst found dead
The body of an autistic teenager from Lindenhurst was found by police in South Lake Friday after a massive search.
Ryan Barrett, 14, went missing Thursday night during a family camping trip. Investigators say Barrett, the eldest of eight children, apparently wandered off shortly after the family arrived at the campsite.
"A lot of autistic children like to wander," says Cindy Herrman, of the Autism Society of America. "They just have fearlessness about them."
Authorities say an autopsy will be performed on Barrett's body, but foul play is not suspected.
