A judge gave the go-ahead Monday for a former Rockville Centre police officer to sue for allegedly being fired after complaining of racism.
Mike Carmody says he had his 10-year long career in law enforcement taken away in 2003 when he reported hearing his superiors using derogatory language about black residents.
?When I voiced my opinion to my supervisors to the PBA and right to the commissioner himself, no one would hear it,? Carmody says.
He says he was labeled a troublemaker and was systematically pushed out of the department. Carmody is suing for $30 million. No trial date has been set.
