A Wantagh teen accused of setting his friend on fire during a block party is facing assault charges.
Police say 17-year-old Arthur Villatore purposely squirted lighter fluid on Timothy Rasmussen, 18, who was standing next to a fire pit Saturday night.
Detectives say they don't believe Villatore meant to hurt his friend, but instead wanted to light his clothing on fire for kicks. The teen?s lawyer says he did not douse Rasmussen with anything.
Rasmussen is in critical but stable condition with second- and third-degree burns. Villatore is due back in court Aug. 20.
