The Department of Defense has identified aMarine killed while serving in Afghanistan as a Floral Park man.
Lance Cpl. Leopold Damas died on Aug. 17. The 26-year-old was part of Operation Enduring Freedom and was killed while supporting combat operations in Helmand province.
Damas was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2ndMarine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of CampLejeune, N.C.
