Nassau corrections officer sues over sick leave
A Nassau County corrections officer is suing his employer for $100 million after he says he wasn?t allowed to take time off to care for his sick wife and their newborn.
Jeff Colletti asked for the time off under the federal Family Medical Leave Act. FMLA allows employees to take unpaid time off if they have been on the job more than a year and have clocked 1,250 hours. His attorney says Colletti was denied the time because he had just come off paid medical leave for an injury sustained on duty.
