Driver pleads not guilty in crash that killed 2
An Iraq war veteran pleaded not guilty to vehicular manslaughter and DWI stemming from the deaths of two brothers over the weekend.
Police say according to preliminary tests, James Farr?s blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit when he struck and killed Thomas and Joseph Occhiogrosso. They were walking along Hempstead Turnpike around 4 a.m. Sunday.
"[Farr?s] position is they came out of nowhere,? defense attorney Marvin Hirsch says. ?It was dark and they [jutted] out into the roadway and he couldn't avoid them.?
Farr was remanded without bond and is due back in court Friday.
