The Long Island Corvette Owners Association?s car show for wounded veterans, in its third year, raised $5,500 for the Northport VA Hospital on Sunday.
A caravan of Corvettes cruised the Long Island Expressway on its way to the hospital?s campus. The car show was founded by Dennis Morrell, who says being critically wounded in the Vietnam War gave him the idea. He was also a patient at the Northport VA.
Morrell says seeing the wounded vets come out and enjoy the cars, hot rods and bikes makes it all worth it. Attendees say it?s a terrific show of support for veterans.
