Nassau braces for swine flu surge this fall
Health experts predict swine flu could hit hard this autumn and winter.
Experts say as many as 120 million people could get sick and 90,000 could die from the virus after the weather changes. Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi says his team is getting set to take on the virus and area hospitals are making preparations for a surge in swine flu cases. Nassau Health Commissioner Dr. Maria Carney says residents need to be proactive too.
"We are prepared to deal with a dynamic situation, but what I ask from residents is to identify a medical home for themselves and their families," she says. "Create a plan."
