Alleged fake cop busted 'on duty' at nightclub
Nassau police say they busted a man pretending to be an NYPD officer while interviewing him as a victim of another crime Sunday.
The accused cop impersonator, 33-year-old Latron Washington, was working security at Tabu nightclub in West Hempstead. Police were called to Tabu around 2 a.m. when someone reported a robbery.
According to authorities, Washington purported to be a cop but could not provide basic information a police officer would have. He was allegedly wearing a bulletproof vest and a holster and had an NYPD identification card. He also had a stun gun, NYPD jacket, uniform shirt and scanner radio in his car, police say.
