Handyman arrested in Manhasset beating
Police say a Manhasset woman found beaten in her home was bludgeoned by her handyman, who is an ex-con.
Sixty-four-year-old Ruthell Williams was found in her Cherry Brook Place home Aug. 23. At the time, police said they got an anonymous call about trouble at the home and that it didn't appear anyone forced their way inside.
Keith Land, of Manhasset, is charged with assault, attempted murder, burglary and robbery in connection to the beating. Prosecutors say Land is a persistent felony offender, which means he could face life in prison. He is being held without bail.
Williams remains in the hospital. Her daughter says she has not yet woken up.
