Cat-filled Moriches home draws neighbors' ire

Neighbors of a Moriches woman say the stench from her cat-filled house is unbearable and that the Town of Brookhaven is doing very little about it.

Bonnie Edwards has more than 40 cats. She says she?s tried to adopt them out or give them to a shelter without luck.

Neighbor Florence Hengeveld says she sent a letter of complaint to the town, but officials say they never got it. However, they say there?s no law limiting the number of cats someone can own.

The county issued Edwards a health violation and says an inspector will return to make sure the cats are vaccinated for rabies.
