Long Islanders make best of 'staycations'
The dreary economy is forcing many Long Islanders who normally went away during Labor Day weekend to stay home.
But Island residents say they are making the best of it by enjoying local attractions such as Adventureland in Farmingdale. Others are swimming at the Island's beaches, going fishing or visiting vineyards on the East End.
Richard Baldwin, of Brentwood, took his first trip to the Airpower Museum on Sunday.
"The bombers, the shows they show inside, it's really a great place to go," Baldwin says. "First time I've ever been here, and I've been living here for over 50 years."
