Schneiderman, Troiano notch primary victories

Leg. Jay Schneiderman and Robert Troiano notched primary victories Tuesday in two of Long Island's 30 races.

Troiano defeated Democratic Nassau Legislator Roger Corbin in the 2nd District race with 63 percent of the vote. Corbin is accused of evading taxes and lying to investigators, but maintains his innocence.

In Suffolk County, Legislator Jay Schneiderman (I) soundly defeated former lawmaker George Guldi with 88 percent of the vote. Schneiderman will run unopposed in November.

Guldi has been accused in a multimillion-dollar mortgage scam. He also says he's innocent.
