Accused mortgage schemer and former Suffolk lawmaker George Guldi is facing more legal problems, just days after a failed attempt to re-enter politics.
Guldi was indicted on insurance fraud charges Thursday. Prosecutors say Guldi walked away with an $850,000 check from his insurance company after his Westhampton Beach home burned down last year.
The district attorney says Guldi was required by law to co-endorse the check with his mortgage company, but didn?t.
Guldi pleaded not guilty. He has also been charged in an $82 million mortgage scam involving a dozen others. On Tuesday, Guldi lost a primary election for Suffolk County Legislature.
