Girl riding bike hit by SUV

An 11-year-old girl was air-lifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center Friday after she was hit by an SUV while riding her bike.

The accident took place at around 4 p.m. near Knickerbocker Avenue in Medford. Witnesses say the girl rode her bike out of a secluded driveway when she was hit by the SUV. A woman was driving the SUV with two young children inside.

Officials say the girl is in critical but stable condition, suffering from internal injuries. Unconfirmed sources say the girl was placed on life support. Police are not filing charges against the driver.
