74-year-old woman dies in Bellmore house fire

A community is in mourning Sunday after a Bellmore woman died in a house fire.

The fire broke out around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday at the 74-year-old woman?s house on Henry Street. Neighbors told News 12 that the victim had a medical device that she used to contact EMS that night.

EMS responders arrived first at the scene and firefighters came shortly after. The woman?s dog, Carley, was rescued.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and is believed to be an accident.
