Nassau cop makes strides after paralyzing crash

More than a year after the crash that nearly paralyzed him, Nassau Police Officer Kenneth Baribault is making remarkable progress, his family says.
Baribault was struck by a drunken driver while sitting in his marked patrol car on the side of the Long Island Expressway last May.
Baribault was left in a wheelchair and unable to speak. He?s using a computer program to help him learn to communicate again and according to sister Danielle Rella, Baribault works out on a bicycle and took several steps at physical therapy.
Baribault?s father Ken held a golf tournament in Riverhead in his son ?s honor. The Fraternal Order of Police hopes to raise $10,000 for the Baribaults.
