LI college basketball player dies suddenly

A freshman basketball player at Farmingdale State College died after collapsing on the court Monday night, leaving the campus in mourning.

Dominic Murray, 17, was recruited to play basketball for Farmingdale. The Queens native was playing a pickup game at the school?s Open Basketball Night when he collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Students and faculty say they?re shocked by the sudden death. The basketball coach met with students who witnessed Murray?s collapse Tuesday and grief counselors will be on hand throughout the week.

An official cause of death has not been released. School officials say they?re planning a memorial with Murray?s family.
