Police say a Mattituck H.S. student was grazed by a bullet when someone fired a shot through a school window Thursday.

The alleged shooter, a 28-year-old man, was taken into police custody. Police say the incident appears random and that the man was not on school grounds when he fired the shot.

The bullet grazed 18-year-old Amanda Olsen?s head. She only suffered minor injuries and was treated by the school nurse. Her parents say she?s badly shaken but OK.

According to the Olsens, Amanda and her classmates heard a series of shots outside their classroom.
