Poll: 51% of LIers support Lighthouse Project
A poll by News 12 Long Island, Newsday and the Siena Research Institute reveals slightly more than half of Long Islanders are in favor of the Lighthouse Project.The poll found 51 percent of Long Islanders support the project. Twenty-five percent of those surveyed were against the proposal and 23 percent said they either didn't have an opinion or did not know enough information.The development would consist of condos, offices, shops, restaurants and a hotel on 150 acres of county land surrounding Nassau Coliseum.The poll also asked Long Islanders what they believe is the most important issue on the Island. Property taxes was the most important issue for 45 percent of those polled.
