East End man shocked he lived with fugitive

The roommate of a man arrested in Hampton Bays for a 8-year-old crime in California says he?s shocked to find out he was living with a fugitive.

Erick Morales had been working at a restaurant in Water Mill for the past few years and was staying with the family of a friend in Hampton Bays. Morales, 27, is suspected of fatally stabbing a 15-year-old boy in 2001.

Morales was arrested Monday on suspicion of DWI. His fingerprints linked him to the California case.

According to his lawyer, Morales waived his right to an extradition hearing in Riverhead Wednesday. He will return to California, where he faces murder charges.
