Wicked weather expected to slam LI
A wicked nor?easter is expected to hit Long Island?s shores hard this weekend. Residents in areas like Amityville and Long Beach, already flooded from Thursday?s rain, are preparing for even more.
A coastal flood warning has been issued as tides have risen up to 3 feet above normal. The waves could reach up to 8 feet. Some fear the weekend storm will batter the already eroded beaches.New York State Parks Regional Director George Gorman says nor ?easters are most damaging to beaches, taking away the most sand.
News 12 Long Island meteorologist Bill Korbel says the rain won?t get heavy until Saturday night. Saturday and Sunday will see temperatures in the 40s and 50s.News 12 Long Island Weather Center
