Flu shot demand could exceed supply
Long Islanders are heading to clinics in droves for vaccinations as flu season approaches, leading to worries supply may not meet demand.
Public health officials say a lack of available vaccinations could be due to manufacturers splitting energy between seasonal and swine flu. Regardless of why, Long Island residents are already coming up short in their rush for flu shots.
"I called my doctor this morning and he didn't have any," says Phyllis Goldberg, of Merrick. "I called several pharmacies in the area and nobody had it."
