Woman leads police on high-speed chase

Police were led on a dangerous high-speed chase through Hampton Bays Sunday before stopping the 51-year-old woman behind the wheel.

Investigators say Kristen DeleMarre led cops on a 30-minute pursuit. Officers chased her onto Sunrise Highway where they say she crossed the median several times and drove through oncoming traffic until she struck a state police car and changed directions.

Several attempts were made to stop her using steel spike strips, police say, but she was able to avoid them. DeleMarre eventually came to a stop along Country Road 31 after slamming into two more police cars and a Lexus.

Police say DeleMarre was not intoxicated. She was arrested and taken to an area hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
