911 calls about Schuler show family's panic
Weeks before a final report on this summer?s Taconic wrong-way crash is set for release, more details about the incident are coming out.
Police say West Babylon mother Diane Schuler was drunk and high with five kids in the car when she drove the wrong way on the Taconic Parkway in July. Schuler, four children in the vehicle and three men in another vehicle were killed.
Transcripts of some of the 911 tapes made when Schuler?s family was trying to contact her have been released. One call was made by a family friend after one of the children in the car called her father to tell him there was something wrong with Schuler.
Family members, unable to get in touch with Schuler herself, tried to determine where the car was.
News 12 Long Island has also learned Schuler's cell phone dialed several wrong numbers while the van was driving erratically. It is not clear if the children were calling for help or if Schuler was making the calls.
State police say it could take a few more weeks until they?re done with the accident reconstruction.
