Obama pays tribute to fallen Medford soldier

President Barack Obama paid his respects to 18 soldiers, including a fallen Green Beret from Medford, at Dover Air Force Base early Thursday morning.

Family members say Staff Sgt. Keith Bishop was among 10 Americans killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. The 28-year-old graduated from Patchogue-Medford High School in 1999.

Staff Sgt. Bishop was a Green Beret and was part of a special team working to stop a lucrative drug trade insurgents use to buy weapons.

A vigil for Staff Sgt. Bishop will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at Hallock Park in Medford.
