Methane gas fills Bay Shore home; 2 critical

Officials say methane gas filled a home in Bay Shore Sunday night, leaving a couple in critical condition.

Authorities say Lorraine and Robert Moller were in and out of consciousness after being pulled from the Hecksher Avenue home.

Officials say seven or eight cats and a dog were removed from the home and taken to the animal shelter in Islip. The dog had to be decontaminated.

Investigators say they are looking into whether cat urine or a plumbing issue may have caused the problem.
