Selden mom charged for alleged animal abuse
Days after a Selden man came out and accused his mother of child and animal abuse the family?s home has been vandalized, police say.
Sharon McDonough is charged with animal abuse after the bodies of 20 dogs were dug up in her backyard.
On Friday, McDonough?s son told News 12 Long Island that his mother abused him and his six sisters and made the girls take part in the alleged animal abuse. Animal rescuers descended on the home, removing five live dogs and one cat from the home.
McDonough?s six younger children are said to be in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Officials say charges against McDonough could be upgraded depending on the results of tests done on the bodies found in the backyard. Investigators say there may be more animal remains, but they need another court order to resume digging.
