Roslyn H.S. students may get to sleep in a bit

Roslyn school officials are considering a district-wide overhaul of school start times and asking for parents? input.

The district is looking to push back the school start time for high school students and have elementary students start earlier. Roslyn High School students wait for the bus as early as 6:50 a.m.

Officials point to medical research that shows sleep-deprived teens could be at higher risk for depression and that rested teens are more prepared to learn.

However, transportation issues and limited buses could mean the change would cost more. The district asks residents to vote on one of four scenarios in an online survey.
