Suffolk DA: NYC-based gang infiltrating LI

Police say a violent New York City-based gang with heroin connections has been popping up in Suffolk County.

According to authorities, it?s the first time they?ve seen this gang in Long Island neighborhoods. Suffolk announced the indictments Friday of two suspected Trinitario gang members for dealing heroin.

?It's a particularly ruthless, violent gang, known to be centered in New York City, Harlem, Washington Heights, the Bronx,? says Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota.

Prosecutors say the Trinitarios arrested recently in Suffolk were operating mostly in Lindenhurst, North Amityville and Copiague. Spota says he?s concerned about how many other gang members are out there.
