Family of Miller Place shooting victim may sue

The family of a man who fell into a coma after he was allegedly shot by an off-duty NYPD officer in Miller Place is considering suing the city, their attorney says.

Witness Jovany Huddleston says he and friend Atiba Watkins were leaving Napper Tandy?s pub two weeks ago when they got into a violent scuffle with the cop, identified as Darius Blackmon.

Watkins? attorney says his client was shot in the back when he turned to walk away from Blackmon. The original police report said Blackmon fired at Watkins because he had a knife. Watkins? attorney denies his client was armed.

No charges have been filed against Blackmon.
