Mother Nature pounds Long Island beaches

The nasty weather that pounded Long Island has passed.

Waves hit about 6 feet during high tide at Robert Moses State Park and LIPA reported power outages throughout the Island.

Meanwhile, on Route 110 in Huntington, cars were stranded in flooded roadways. Strong winds also knocked down power lines in Cold Spring Harbor. Merchants up and down Route 110 say it?s the same story every storm.

The state transportation department says it has a plan to fix the problem and that bids on the project are expected to go to contractors next spring. However, the project will take nearly two years to complete.
